Peta Wins Prestigious DMAW Maxi Award for Telephone Town Hall

Stones’ Phones and PETA won the Direct Marketing Association of WashingtonMAXI Award for their innovative Telephone Town Hall “Fundraising Like Rabbits” that raised crucial funds for PETA’s education and awareness campaign to oppose the Angora wool industry in China and its corporate supporters internationally.

The Telephone Town Hall featured remarks from PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman, Vice President of International Operations Jason Baker, and Corporate Liaison Anne Kellogg. The interactive event exposed the Angora wool industry by fielding questions from members on the phone call and was able to motivate their impassioned members to donate to PETA’s cause.

2,132 PETA supporters joined the Telephone Town Hall with 561 callers staying on the line for nearly the entire 70 minute program. Callers learned which companies needed added pressure and how to best take action to support the campaign.

$8,445 was raised on the event from over 120 donors. Additionally, one donor matched the funds received up $5,000, making the total raised $13,445. PETA also collected 127 voice mails from participants to encourage the undercover investigators involved in the campaign.

Below, you can listen to Tracy’s opening remarks as well as some of the questions answered by her and her colleagues regarding PETA’s campaign against Angora wool.

In its 35th year, MAXI Awards recognizes and honors achievements in direct marketing. Previously this year, PETA also won the prestigious Campaigns & Elections Reed Award, which recognizes the year’s best political and public affairs work through their annual Reed Awards.

PETA’s Development Director Steve Kehrli and Marty Stone presented earlier this year about creative ways to fundraise at the Direct Marketing Association’s Washington Nonprofit Conference.

Stones’ Phones is pleased that PETA’s hard work is being awarded for their Telephone Town Hall, “Fundraising Like Rabbits.”  We are happy to work with such a devoted organization and look forward to more award-winning collaborations!
